Trishuli Bus Journey from Kathmandu Guide
The Trishuli River valley north of Kathmandu is a weekend escape popular for rafting, temples, and hill walks. Here is how to get there by bus.
Trishuli Bazar, the small town at the confluence of the Trishuli and Ankhu rivers, sits just 72km from Kathmandu but feels a world away from the capital's noise.
Overview
Buses for Trishuli depart from Gongabu Bus Park (also called Naya Bus Park) in north Kathmandu. Departure frequency is high between 6am and 10am. The journey takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on traffic leaving the valley and road conditions near Battar. Fares are NPR 200 to NPR 250. The road follows the Trishuli River gorge for much of its length -- scenic but twisty, so consider motion sickness medication if you are prone. Trishuli Bazar has guesthouses and rafting operators starting Grade III-IV day trips downstream toward Kurintar and Mugling.
