Overview

US citizens are eligible for Nepal visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport and Pokhara Regional Airport, as well as major land border crossings. The fees are the same as for most nationalities: USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days, and USD 125 for 90 days. Multiple entry is included. Alternatively, apply online via Nepal's e-visa portal before departure. US citizens do not need to obtain a Nepal visa at an embassy before travel unless they specifically prefer to. Carry USD in cash as a backup since card machines at immigration are reliable but occasionally go offline. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure from Nepal.

FAQ

Q: Does the US have a reciprocal visa-free arrangement with Nepal?

No. US citizens must pay for a Nepal visa just like most other nationalities. India and Nepal have a special visa-free treaty that does not extend to the US or other countries.
