Nepal Honeymoon Itinerary: Perfect 7 Days
A detailed day-by-day 7-day Nepal honeymoon itinerary covering Kathmandu, Pokhara, and the Annapurna foothills.
Seven days is enough to experience Nepal's two most important destinations, Kathmandu and Pokhara, without rushing. This itinerary balances sightseeing, relaxation, and adventure for a complete honeymoon experience.
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Complete visa on arrival (bring USD 50 per person in cash and a passport photo). Your hotel can arrange airport pickup, book in advance.
Check into your hotel and rest for 2-3 hours. The elevation of Kathmandu (1,400 m) is manageable, but acclimatisation is still sensible.
Evening: Walk to Thamel for dinner at Newa Lahana or Thamel House Restaurant for a traditional Nepali welcome meal. Return to hotel early as Day 2 starts before dawn.

Recommended hotels: Dwarika's Hotel (luxury), Kantipur Temple House (mid-range), Thamel House Hotel (budget)
Day 2: Kathmandu Temples and Culture
Early: Sunrise at Swayambhunath Stupa before the crowds arrive. The stupa sits on a hill above Kathmandu with views across the valley. The prayer wheels and the monkey population are morning constants.
Morning: Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati River. This is one of South Asia's most important Hindu temples. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but the complex is vast and the ghats beside the river have profound cultural significance.
Afternoon: Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal and the heart of Tibetan Buddhist practice in the country. Walk the kora (circumambulation path) around the stupa. Stop for yak butter tea at one of the rooftop cafes.
Late afternoon: Patan Durbar Square and the Patan Museum. The museum is housed in the old royal palace and contains the finest collection of traditional metal sculpture and wood carving in Nepal.
Evening: Rooftop dinner at a Thamel restaurant.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara by Flight
Morning: Domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The 25-minute flight over the Himalayan foothills is itself scenic on clear days. Book the first flight of the day for best visibility.
Pokhara: Check in to your lakeside hotel. Drop bags and walk to Phewa Lake. Rent a rowboat for 1-2 hours.
Afternoon: Rest and settle in. Explore Lakeside on foot.
Evening: Dinner at a lakeside terrace restaurant. Watch the mountains go dark and the restaurant lights come on across the water.
Day 4: Sarangkot Sunrise and Paragliding
Pre-dawn: Taxi to Sarangkot viewpoint (20 minutes). Arrive before 5:45 am. Watch sunrise over the Annapurna range.
After sunrise: Most paragliding flights depart from just below the viewpoint. If you have booked paragliding, this is the ideal slot. The 30-45 minute tandem flight lands in Lakeside.
Late morning: Return to hotel for breakfast and rest.
Afternoon: Tal Barahi Temple by boat on Phewa Lake. Spend the afternoon exploring the lake.
Evening: Candlelight dinner at Moondance or Busy Bee Cafe.
Day 5: Pokhara Leisure Day
This day is intentionally unstructured. Choose from:
- Active: Half-day trek to the World Peace Pagoda above Phewa Lake with views over the valley
- Cultural: Seti River Gorge and the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
- Relaxed: Full spa day at your hotel or a Lakeside spa
Evening: Sunset boat ride on Phewa Lake. Stay on the water as the mountains change colour.
Day 6: Day Trek to Dhampus
An optional day trek into the Annapurna foothills takes you deeper into the mountain landscape. The Dhampus village trek (4-5 hours round trip) starts from Kande, 12 kilometres from Pokhara.
The path climbs through Gurung villages and rice terraces to the Dhampus ridge at 1,650 metres. The Annapurna range is directly in front of you and the views back over Pokhara valley are excellent.
Return to Pokhara for an early dinner. Pack for the return flight tomorrow.
Day 7: Return to Kathmandu and Departure
Morning flight back to Kathmandu. If your international flight departs in the evening, you have time for:
- Garden of Dreams for a quiet morning stroll
- Last-minute shopping in Thamel (pashmina, thangka paintings, singing bowls)
- Lunch at a good Thamel restaurant
Depart from Tribhuvan International Airport.
