Nepal Honeymoon Itinerary: 14 Days of Romance and Adventure
A comprehensive 14-day Nepal honeymoon itinerary adding Chitwan jungle safari and a short Annapurna trek to the classic Kathmandu-Pokhara route.
Fourteen days allows couples to move beyond the classic Kathmandu-Pokhara circuit and add genuinely different experiences: the subtropical jungle of Chitwan National Park, a meaningful Annapurna trek, and deeper cultural immersion in the Kathmandu Valley.
Days 1-3: Kathmandu Cultural Deep Dive
Day 1: Arrive and settle. Evening in Thamel.
Day 2: Swayambhunath at sunrise, Pashupatinath morning, Boudhanath afternoon. Traditional Newari dinner in the evening.
Day 3: Bhaktapur day trip (45-minute drive from Kathmandu). This UNESCO World Heritage city is the best-preserved medieval urban environment in Nepal. The 55-Window Palace, the Nyatapola Temple, and the pottery square are extraordinary. Spend the full day exploring the old quarter and return to Kathmandu for the night.

A 3-day short trek into the Annapurna foothills suits couples without extensive trekking experience but who want to go beyond Pokhara city.
Day 8: Drive from Pokhara to Kande and hike up to Dhampus (3-4 hours). Overnight at Dhampus in a teahouse.

Day 10: Trek down via Tolka to the road and drive back to Pokhara. Afternoon rest and dinner. Overnight in Pokhara.
Alternatively, the Poon Hill trek (4 nights, Ulleri to Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani to Ghandruk) offers a more complete Annapurna foothills experience and is suitable for couples with reasonable fitness.
Day 11: Pokhara to Chitwan
Drive from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park (4-5 hours). The road descends from the hills into the Terai, the flat subtropical lowland region. The temperature rises noticeably.
Check into your jungle lodge. Afternoon walk along the park boundary. Evening cultural show at the lodge (traditional Tharu stick dance).
Days 12-13: Chitwan Jungle Safari
Day 12: Morning elephant grass walk with a naturalist guide (on foot). The guides track fresh footprints and know the territory. Rhinoceros sightings are common. Return for lunch. Afternoon dugout canoe ride on the Rapti River where the river's banks are habitat for gharial crocodiles and marsh muggers.
Day 13: Morning jeep safari into the core zone of the park. Tiger sightings are less frequent than rhino but jeep safaris cover more ground and penetrate deeper into the park. Afternoon bird walk: Chitwan is one of Nepal's finest bird watching areas with over 500 recorded species. Evening campfire dinner at the lodge.
Day 14: Chitwan to Kathmandu and Departure
Early morning: One final bird walk or nature activity.
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu (5-6 hours by road, 30 minutes by domestic flight). Afternoon in Kathmandu for last-minute shopping and a farewell lunch.
