Nepal Cable Cars: Complete List 2026
Nepal has a growing network of cable cars connecting temples, viewpoints, and remote villages. Here is every operational cable car as of 2026.
Nepal's cable cars range from short tourist gondolas to vital community lifelines in the hills.
Overview
The Manakamana Cable Car is the most famous -- running 2.8km from Kurintar on the Prithvi Highway up to the Manakamana Temple at 1,302m. Fares are NPR 1,120 return per adult. The Chandragiri Cable Car connects Thankot on the valley rim to Chandragiri (2,551m) with city and Himalayan views; fares are around NPR 700 return. The Kalinchok Cable Car in Dolakha district reaches the Kalinchok Bhagwati shrine at 3,842m -- popular in winter for snow. The Halesi Mahadev Cable Car in Khotang links the sacred Halesi cave complex. Several community aerial ropeway systems exist in Solukhumbu, Taplejung, and Lamjung districts serving cargo and local passengers on routes no road has yet reached.
