The lower sections (Besi Sahar to Chame) are now accessible by road, meaning these villages have shifted toward guesthouse standard accommodation with attached bathrooms. The middle and upper sections (Pisang to Manang) offer the best combination of quality and atmosphere — lodges are well-maintained, views extraordinary, and the altitude still manageable.

Manang (3,519m) is the acclimatisation hub and has the Circuit's best facilities outside Besisahar — heated dining rooms, multiple bakeries, a cinema showing altitude sickness films nightly, and several lodges with attached bathrooms and consistent hot water. Spend two nights here.

Above Manang toward Thorong Phedi (4,450m) and the High Camp (4,850m), facilities simplify rapidly. High Camp lodges are basic by design — focus on warmth (bring a good sleeping bag), hydration, and early sleep before the pre-dawn Thorong La crossing. The pass itself (5,416m) has a teahouse where you can warm up before descending to Muktinath.

Muktinath and Upper Mustang side teahouses on the descent offer Tibetan-influenced lodge architecture — flat roofs, thick mud walls — that retains warmth far better than the wooden Khumbu-style construction on the EBC route.
