The Tamang Heritage Trail is a 7-10 day cultural and scenic route through Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts north of Kathmandu, connecting to the Langtang National Park system.

Overview

The trail loops through Tamang villages from Syabrubesi via Gatlang, Tatopani, Nagthali, Brimdang, and back โ€” or continues into Langtang Valley. Maximum altitude is approximately 3,165m at Nagthali ridge, where views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang dominate the horizon. The Tamang people maintain distinct Buddhist traditions, weaving cooperatives, and stone-built village architecture. Visitor numbers are low compared to Langtang Valley proper. Bus Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via Sajilo booking for a smooth 7am departure from the Machhapokhari terminal.
