Rolwaling Valley Trek Remote Nepal
Rolwaling Valley is one of Nepal most remote trekking destinations, a Buddhist sanctuary valley leading to the Tashi Lapcha Pass at 5,755m on the edge of the Khumbu.
Rolwaling sits between the Khumbu region and Kathmandu Valley, accessed from Charikot in Dolakha district. The valley leads to Na (4,180m) and the glacial lakes of Tsho Rolpa (4,580m) before the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m) connects to the Khumbu.
Overview
The standard trek covers 14-18 days from Charikot to Lukla via the Tashi Lapcha, or as an out-and-back to Tsho Rolpa in 10-12 days. The valley is remote โ basic teahouses exist at Simigaon, Beding, and Na, but no infrastructure above Na. The Tashi Lapcha crossing is serious mountaineering terrain requiring crampons, rope, and glacier experience. The valley is part of Gaurishankar Conservation Area (entry fee NPR 3,000). Reach Charikot from Kathmandu by bus (4 hours) โ book your Kathmandu morning cab with Sajilo to hit the 6am bus departure on time.
FAQ

Can I do Rolwaling without crossing the Tashi Lapcha? Yes โ the out-and-back to Tsho Rolpa and the glaciers above Na is rewarding without the technical pass crossing.
