Overview
The standard route approaches from Lukla via the Zatrwa La (4,610m) into the Hinku valley, then up through Kote, Thangnak, and Khare (5,045m) to the high camp (5,800m) and summit ridge. Total duration: 18-21 days from Kathmandu. The summit is broad and snowy with no technical rock or ice climbing — crampons and rope travel in a guided party are all that is required. From the top, five of the world six highest peaks are visible: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Fly to Lukla via Kathmandu; a Sajilo cab ensures you reach the airport on time for the morning mountain flight.

Fly Kathmandu–Lukla (35 min). From Lukla, the route diverges from EBC at Chutanga, crossing the Zatrwa La into the Hinku valley. No road access to the trailhead.
