Manaslu Circuit Trek Permits and Regulations 2026
The Manaslu Circuit requires three separate permits and a licensed guide by law. This guide covers costs, where to get them, and what to expect at checkpoints.
The Manaslu Circuit is a restricted trekking area, meaning independent trekking is not permitted โ you must hire a licensed guide and obtain the correct paperwork before entering.
Overview
Three permits are required: the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) at USD 100 per week (September-November) or USD 75 (other months), the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) at NPR 3,000, and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) at NPR 3,000 for the Larkya La crossing exit. All permits are issued in Kathmandu through a registered trekking agency. The circuit covers about 177km over 14-18 days, crossing Larkya La Pass (5,160m). Get to your Kathmandu agency on time by booking a Sajilo cab from your hotel the morning of your permit appointment.
FAQ
Can I get permits at the trailhead? No โ RAP permits must be issued in Kathmandu before you enter the Gorkha district checkpoints. Checkpoints are strict.
Do I need a guide or just permits? Both. By law, every trekker in the Manaslu restricted zone must be accompanied by a government-registered guide. Porters do not count.
Planning this trip? ๐
Don't stress about transport or guides. Sajilo offers verified cabs, luxury tourist buses, and expert guides across Nepal.
When is the trail closed? There is no official closure, but Larkya La (5,160m) becomes hazardous with heavy snowfall from December to February. Most trekkers target March-May and September-November.
