Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Classic Tour
The Kathmandu-Pokhara-Chitwan triangle is Nepal's most-travelled tourist circuit for good reason — it captures mountains, culture, and wildlife in one logical loop that works in as few as six days.
Overview
The classic Nepal triangle has been a staple of travel itineraries since the 1970s and remains the most logical structure for a first visit. Kathmandu (heritage and culture), Pokhara (mountains and lakes), and Chitwan (jungle and wildlife) each occupy a distinct ecological and cultural zone, and the three together give a visitor a genuinely representative picture of Nepal's diversity.
The circuit works in both directions but the Kathmandu-Pokhara-Chitwan-Kathmandu sequence has the advantage of ending with a direct road connection back to the capital before international departure. Domestic flights between all three points are available and strongly recommended to save time. Road connections are comfortable by tourist bus but long (six hours Kathmandu to Pokhara, five hours Pokhara to Chitwan).
Time allocation: Kathmandu two to three days, Pokhara two days, Chitwan one to two days. Add the Poon Hill short trek between Pokhara and Chitwan (two nights) to extend the trip meaningfully. Trekking permits for Poon Hill can be arranged at the Nayapul checkpoint.
